Borderlands 4: Day 30 patch brings huge fixes and enhances the experience

The Day 30 update for Borderlands 4, deployed on October 23, marks a turning point in the dynamics of the game. Gearbox is signing a wave of corrections, balancing adjustments and new features that will reshape the Vault Hunters experience. As a backdrop, a free mini-event called Horrors of Kairos adds a layer of bloody adrenaline to the title.

Eagerly awaited, this update targets certain gameplay abuses, including the infamous “crit knife”, which allowed bosses to be eliminated in a single hit. This patch also brings better general stability, better distributed rewards, and two new temporary legendary weapons to unlock.

Goodbye crit knife, hello global balancing

The core of this update is balancing. Liabilities like Neutron Capture Or Seeing Red have been corrected to limit power drift. THE crit knifea weapon used in many builds to one-shot enemies, has had its critical strike chance reduced to 30%.

The developers justified these changes in an official communication:
“We will closely monitor community feedback and respond once the changes have stabilized. This measured approach to your feedback will ensure a more consistent and better experience. As a reminder, our main goal with these balance adjustments is to offer you as many viable configurations as possible.”

Each character class has received its share of adjustments: Vex, Rafa, Amon and the Gravitar have seen their skills readjusted to offer more diversity without imbalance. The Jakobs, Tediore and Maliwan weapons have also been revised, with adjustments to damage, rate of fire or secondary effects.

Horrors of Kairos: a mini-event to spice up the adventure

Launched alongside the update, Horrors of Kairos is a free mini-event active from October 23 to November 6. It introduces a rain of blood during world boss fights, accompanied by an increased chance of obtaining two new legendary weapons: the Tediore submachine gun Murmur and the pomegranate Skully.

These exclusive items can only be obtained during the event and will be sent to the Reward Center. The SHiFT code associated with the event can be retrieved in the official announcement to maximize your chances of loot.

Improved stability, missions, loot and gaming comfort

Beyond balancing, the patch brings numerous technical improvements:

  • Best logic of Lost Loot Machine
  • Fixed progression bugs in several missions
  • Rebalancing currency gains and drop rates
  • Graphics and audio fixes for a smoother experience
  • Better behavior in multiplayer, especially during boss fights or item exchanges

New visual effects, interface improvements and matchmaking optimization complete a massive patch, designed to last.
