At the Grammy Awards, Austin Wintory is rewarded for his soundtrack to Sword of the Sea


13 years after Journey’s nomination

It was therefore Austin Wintory who was entitled to his Grammy yesterday, for his excellent work on the recent Sword of the Seaa sort of spiritual successor to Journey, whose composer had also concocted the unforgettable soundtrack. No surprise here as Wintory has already been nominated several times in the last Grammy Awards (with Aliens: Fireteam Elite And Stray Gods), even for Journey when the ceremony did not yet have a category dedicated to video games. This shows how popular the composer is there.

We will not dwell on the absence (among others) of Chiaroscuro: Expedition 33 in the list which has already caused a lot of ink to flow (probably because the ceremony favors the Americans), but we can obviously only encourage you to listen to Wintory’s work on Sword of the Seaand even better, to play the latter, as it has other qualities than its sweet soundtrack.
