The Assassin’s Creed franchise isn’t slowing down. Ubisoft has just revealed a particularly busy roadmap for its flagship license, confirming several major projects currently in development. Between new games, return of multiplayer, expected remake and Netflix series, the Assassins universe is preparing for a period of transformation.
These announcements come as Assassin’s Creed Shadows prepares to celebrate its first year of existence. The opportunity for Ubisoft to take stock of the game, while lifting the veil on the future of the saga.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows enters its final phase
Released in March 2025, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has undergone many changes since its launch. Ubisoft explains that the game has been largely improved thanks to community feedback and discussions with content creators. Among the most notable changes, the developers have reworked certain aspects of parkour to make movement more fluid and natural. These adjustments come directly from feedback sessions organized with players.
To celebrate the game’s first year, Ubisoft is planning a special livestream on March 20 on its Twitch channel. The event will notably allow you to discover the latest update of the game, the results of the Parkour Challenge and several rewards distributed to participants.
Despite this celebration, Ubisoft is already preparing the sequel. Assassin’s Creed Shadows is now entering a final support phase. Updates should continue, but they will gradually become less frequent. The studio still promises “a few surprises” before fully turning its attention to future projects.
Assassin’s Creed Hexe, a much darker episode
Among the most intriguing projects, Assassin’s Creed Hexe takes center stage. The game is currently developed by Ubisoft Montreal and aims to offer a very different approach to the saga. Jean Guesdon describes this future episode as “a unique experience, darker and narrative, [et] which takes place at a key moment in history.
Ubisoft remains deliberately discreet on details. The studio prefers to take its time to fully realize its idea. As Guesdon explains, “We are taking the time necessary to realize this ambitious vision.” Players will therefore have to wait “a while” before discovering more.
Assassin’s Creed Invictus marks the return of multiplayer
Another project is already attracting attention: Assassin’s Creed Invictus. Unlike traditional installments of the franchise, this game will focus on a multiplayer experience. Ubisoft talks about “a new approach to multiplayer in the franchise”, with a player versus player mode developed by a team made up of For Honor veterans.
The project still remains mysterious, but Ubisoft assures that the community will play a central role in its development. According to Jean Guesdon, “player feedback is at the heart of [leur] approach “. He also emphasizes that the team is “incredibly passionate about what they are developing” and that this project “reflects [leur] broader goal of offering a greater variety of experiences in the Assassin’s Creed universe.
Black Flag remake, patch for Unity and Netflix series
Ubisoft’s announcements aren’t limited to new games. Several projects linked to the franchise are also moving forward in parallel. Assassin’s Creed Jade, the mobile episode taking place in China, continues to develop. Ubisoft also recalls that other projects are in preparation at different stages of production. Among the most noticed surprises is the remake of Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, confirmed by the publisher with a first visual.
Fans will also be able to rediscover Assassin’s Creed Unity in better conditions. The game will receive a free patch allowing it to be played at 60 frames per second on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Finally, the live-action Assassin’s Creed series produced by Netflix finally seems to be progressing. Ubisoft promises news very soon and suggests that the project could emerge from the shadows in the coming months.
