This new patch impacts all modes of the game: multiplayer, Zombies, and Dead Ops Arcade. With in particular a significant nerf for the Akita in Akimbo mode, the arrival of Snowfight mode in Party Games, corrections to maps and challenges, and a festive event called “Naughty & Nice”. Enough to revive interest for this end of the year.
A lively Christmas: new modes and events
Starting December 16 at 10 a.m. (PT), the “Naughty & Nice” event is launched in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. It is accompanied by the addition of the Holiday Havoc mode to the Featured selection, and the integration of “Snowfight” in the Party Games, for snowball-based clashes.
In terms of customizations, private mode now allows you to play “Sticks and Stones”, offering players more freedom. Another welcome change concerns the Search and Destroy mode, where a bug prevented the end of the round in the event of a team change.
The developers also fixed a flaw on the Scar map, where some players could leave the intended play area.
The Akita in the crosshairs: weapons rebalanced
One of the most anticipated changes concerns the Akita ScorchLink Akimbo, considered too powerful since its release. The patch now reduces its power by inflicting a 10% damage penalty in multiplayer. “While we prefer to avoid such an aggressive approach to rebalancing content, especially so quickly after it becomes available, the release schedule and unique nature of Akita Duals presented an unusual case, so we decided that an accelerated set of changes was the best solution as we approach the holidays.”
The Stim Shot has also been revised: its healing capacity goes from 160 HP/second to only 80. The Jäger 45 in Zombies has had its rate corrected when it is improved, and several weapons have been adjusted in Dead Ops Arcade 4.
Zombies: progression restored, challenges fixed
The patch fixes many bugs in Zombies mode, especially on the Astra Malorum map. The Rocket Trap now counts towards Daily Challenges, and Calling Card Challenges appear as intended in the rewards stream.
Blocked prestige challenges are also unlocked: “Voidweaver” (Prestige 8) and “Double Bubble” (Prestige 10) progress correctly. As for solo Survival mode, objectives are taken into account again, good news for those who hunt for solo rewards.
Dead Ops Arcade 4: double XP active and bugs fixed
Dead Ops Arcade 4 mode also benefits from a significant fix. Activating a perk with a controller no longer accidentally triggers other power-ups like Speed Boost or Bomb.
Ravager creatures now inflict the correct damage on the player, and above all, the double XP level is finally applied correctly when it is active. Good news for those who are taking advantage of the weekend to quickly move up in rank.
