PS6 release could be pushed back due to GTA 6 postponement

While Grand Theft Auto 6 is already the most anticipated game of recent years, its postponement to November 2026 caused a real earthquake. According to Piers Harding-Rollanalyst at Ampere Analysis, this delay “could lead all players in the sector to rethink their product strategies”.

Clearly, Rockstar is shaking up the calendar of the entire industry, and not just that of gamers. Because beyond the public’s frustration, it is the roadmap of the console manufacturers, Sony and Microsoft in the lead, which would be overhauled.

The PS6 and next-gen consoles could be postponed

Still according to the analysis of Piers Harding-Roll relayed by GamesIndustry.bizthe late launch of GTA 6 could encourage PlayStation and Xbox to delay the release of their future consoles, initially expected around the end of 2027.

The idea: to fully capitalize on the sales of GTA 6 on the current generation (PS5 and Xbox Series), without disrupting its commercial cycle. Although backward compatibility would allow flexible deployment, the weight of GTA 6 pushes manufacturers to be cautiousespecially since the post-launch commercial dynamic could last several years.

A game at the heart of all speculation

Since the announcement of this new delay, GTA 6 has been at the center of all discussions. Fans, analysts and journalists have their theories on the reasons for this discrepancy and its implications. Some even fear a new postponementaccentuated by growing distrust of Rockstar, singled out for internal controversies.

To date, Sony has not communicated any official date regarding the PlayStation 6. But one thing is certain: the launch of GTA 6 is already influencing the plans of video game giants for years to come.
