Sony partners with NCSoft to produce a Horizon MMO, discover Horizon Steel Frontiers

An MMO that ignores the PS5

The MMORPG Horizon Steel Frontiers will make us discover the Deadlands region, inspired by Arizona and New Mexico. Here you can create your own character to let Aloy rest a little, with an avatar editor that will let you choose between several tribes (Nora, Tenakth, Utaru and Oseram).

You will have to tackle large machines which require a little cooperation, enough to give rise to quite spectacular boss fights with several people where you will have to try to bring these colossi to the ground to attack them.

We will therefore find gameplay which retains certain elements of the games Horizonexcept that it is much more dynamic (with lighter movements), however with some new features, such as being able to climb certain machines in order to lay traps on their damaged parts, or use their own weapons against them. To tell the truth, the whole thing is especially reminiscent of a Monster Hunter-like supercharged.

We discover all this in two long videos today, which give a good overview of what the MMO will have to offer. We see that we retain here the visual touch of the series, with a rather impressive technical rendering… while the game is not planned for PS5. Which may seem funny for a license belonging to Sony.

Horizon Steel Frontiers primarily targets a mobile audience and will therefore be released on Android and iOS. However, a PC version is also on the program.and we imagine that it is the one we see on the videos.

Taekjin Kim, CCO of NCSoft, adds:

When I discovered Horizon Zero Dawn in 2017, I was immediately captivated by its vibrant and fascinating universe. The battles against colossal mechanical lifeforms were exhilarating and the mysterious narrative piqued my curiosity, pushing me to explore every corner of this universe. Yet, I couldn’t help but feel a certain nostalgia at the idea of having to discover such an incredible world alone. I imagined how exciting it would be to meet other players, team up and take on these gigantic machines together. From the start, I was convinced: fighting mechanical life forms would be much more exciting than facing any fantasy monster. This vision inspired us to create an MMORPG set in this extraordinary universe. »

We still don’t know when this MMO Horizon will be available. An official website is now online.
