Battlefield 6 prepares its Battle Royale mode with a major update before season 1

BF Studios, the collective behind Battlefield 6has just released a large-scale community update. The objective? Improving the player experience at all levels. The team explains that its current priorities concern:

  • Dispersal of weapons
  • Global balancing
  • Visibility and aiming assistance
  • Player progression
  • The stability of matchmaking

The custom search system has notably been adjusted to better match maps and game modes, although this may lengthen wait times for more specific configurations.

Matchmaking and performance improvements

A hotfix has been deployed to resolve vehicle spawning bugs on certain maps and modes. Result: a notable reduction in reported anomalies, and a better balance between the parties. Additionally, win rates in Breakthrough mode have been adjusted slightly.

On the pure performance side, several major issues have been identified and corrected, particularly with regard to framerate, the display of certain visual effects and animations.

Overhauled progression and XP in certain modes

Players had pointed out inconsistencies in XP gains, particularly in Climbing and King of the Hill modes. BF Studios promises a significant increase in XP in these modes, to align them with the rest of the multiplayer offering.

Certain challenges deemed too demanding will also be simplified. Here are some planned adjustments:

  • Kill with Adrenaline Injector : from 30 to 3 enemies
  • Repair vehicles in one match : from 6000 to 1000 points
  • Eliminations over 200m with a sniper rifle : from 150 to 5

These changes will be deployed in two successive waves of updates.

Better visibility and more precise aim

Recurring complaints regarding in-game visibility are finally being addressed. The developers announce a rebalancing of lighting effects, to avoid glare outdoors and areas that are too dark indoors. Weapon optics will also benefit from an adjustment for a more readable zoom.

On the aiming side, the reticle will benefit from better stability, particularly after moving or during certain animations, which will reinforce precision in the first person.

Battle Royale mode is coming, with targeted gameplay tweaks

Even if EA remains discreet about the release of the Battle Royale mode, leaks and internal statements converge towards an imminent launch. In anticipation, many adjustments have been made:

  • Short-range shortened TTK : to reward precision and positioning

  • Redesigned armor system : all players start with an armor plate, which can be upgraded from the start of looting
  • Vehicle Balancing : helicopters and armored vehicles have been adjusted to no longer dominate the endgames
  • Map optimizations : refined lighting, bugs fixed, readability improved

These adjustments aim to make Battle Royale Battlefield 6 an experience that is both nervous, tactical and faithful to the DNA of the franchise.

Battlefield Labs on hiatus, but the future remains bright

Battlefield Labs Community Test Mode is temporarily suspended to focus efforts on the launch of Season 1 and Battle Royale. BF Studios promises, however, that the program will return soon to continue shaping the future of gaming with the help of players.
