Release date of the “The Apothecary Diaries” film + teaser


New details about the upcoming film were announced today on the official X account of the anime adaptation of “The Apothecary Diaries”. We summarize.

Cinema release in December 2026

The film, called “The Apothecary Diaries: The Late Consort’s Hidden Treasure” (Japanese: “Kusuriya no Hitorigoto: Bouhi no Hihou”) and tells a new original story by series creator Natsu Hyuga, will be released in Japanese cinemas on December 11, 2026. There is a first teaser below.

The TOHO animation STUDIO studio is once again responsible for the production of the film, with Norihiro Naganuma (chief director of the second season and director of the first season) directing. Mayu Tanimoto and Ayako Hiraike serve as assistant directors.

The main roles again include Aoi Yuki as Maomao and Takeo Outsuka as Jinshi. Mariya Ise (Reg in “Made in Abyss”) joins the voice cast as Mu Qing.

In addition to the film, a third season of the main series is also in the works, the first part of which will start in October 2026. The broadcast will pause from January 2027 before the second part continues in April 2027. The first two seasons are available on Crunchyroll, while Netflix only offers the first season.
