An entry on Netflix made it known that the streaming service would be showing the anime adaptation of “Chainsmoker Cat” (Japanese: “Yani Neko”) in a simulcast in this country. We summarize the details below.
Starting in July 2026
“Chainsmoker Cat” will premiere in the uncensored version on Netflix on July 2, 2026. It is not yet known whether a German dubbing will be offered in addition to the original Japanese sound with German subtitles.
The anime is produced by the Bibury Animation studio. Taku Kimura (“A Place Further Than the Universe”) will direct, while Takashi Aoshima (“Synduality Noir”) will write the script and Riki Matsuura will create the character designs.
The underlying manga series by Nyan Nyan Factory has been published in Kodansha’s “Young Magazine” since February 2023. The work is available through Seven Seas Entertainment with an English translation.
