DC Studios is continuing to expand its range of animations and is focusing on a special premiere: together with a Japanese company, an anime series about Batman’s most famous adversary, Joker, is being created for the first time. We have summarized the most important information below.
First DC Studios anime from Japan
The project, titled “Joker: Laugh Riot,” was recently presented at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and Market in a joint presentation by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation.
The two US companies are cooperating with Sola Entertainment from Japan on the production. The studio previously worked with Warner Bros. on “The Lord of the Rings: The Battle of the Rohirrim.” The director is Yasuhiro Aoki, who most recently directed the anime film “ChaO”.
According to Warner Bros. and DC Studios, the collaboration will also be the start of further anime projects, as the medium has become significantly more important worldwide in recent years. With “Suicide Squad Isekai,” an anime series with characters from the DC universe was previously released.
In addition to “Joker: Laugh Riot,” an animated series based on the successful comic series “Absolute Batman” and a family-friendly animated series about Superman’s dog Krypto were also announced during the presentation.
Further information about “Joker: Laugh Riot”, such as a start date and other participants in the production, is currently pending. Below you will find a teaser image with the series logo as well as the first details about the plot.
