The video-on-demand service Netflix announced today that it has secured the license for the anime adaptation of the spin-off novel “One Piece: Heroines”. We summarize the details for you below.
Premiering in July 2026
The approximately 25-minute special episode entitled “Episode of Nami: Tears of a Navigator” (Japanese: “episode: NAMI”) will premiere on Japanese television on July 5, 2026 and will be broadcast there instead of a new episode of the main “One Piece” series. The worldwide release on Netflix is scheduled for July 11, 2026.
The Toei Animation studio is responsible for producing the special, which is based on the first chapter of “One Piece: Heroines” and expands it with original scenes, and is directed by Haruka Kamatani (“Koisuru One Piece”).
The underlying light novel series by Jun Esaka, which was published in two volumes from December 2019 to August 2022 with illustrations by Suwa Sayaka, focuses on the female characters from the “One Piece” universe.
