Last weekend, Crunchyroll announced the winners of this year’s Anime Awards – but the result was completely different than last year, which may have particularly surprised “Solo Leveling” fans.
Ten nominations, two wins
At the Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2026, the second season of “Solo Leveling” was considered a hot contender for several awards with ten nominations. But despite being mentioned in categories such as “Best Soundtrack”, “Best Opening” and “Best Main Character”, in the end it was only enough for two awards.
The series was able to hold its own against well-known competitors in both the “Best Animation” and “Best Action” categories. The anime included “DAN DA DAN”, “One Piece”, “My Hero Academia” and “Kaiju No. 8” behind him.
While some fans see the defeats in the eight other categories as a reaction to last year’s controversial “Anime of the Year” win for the first season, others are once again criticizing the awards’ rating system.
Regardless of the rather mixed award haul, “Solo Leveling” remains one of the most successful anime series of recent years. On Crunchyroll, the title is about to become the first anime to reach the one million rating mark and currently has a strong 4.9 out of 5 stars.
Overall, the anime adaptation of “Solo Leveling” so far consists of two seasons, which are available on demand with German and Japanese voice acting. A third season or a sequel film has not yet been announced.
