Great success for »Gachiakuta« at the 50th Kodansha Manga Awards

At this year’s Kodansha Manga Awards, “Gachiakuta” secured the prize in one of the most important categories. We summarize below.

Best Shonen Manga

As the Japanese literary and manga publisher Kodansha recently announced, the successful manga series “Gachiakuta” by Kei Urana received the award for best shonen manga at the 50th Manga Awards.

The work, of which a second anime season is currently being produced, prevailed against titles such as “Ichi the Witch”, “Kaoru and Rin” and “Utsuranain Desu”.

After the announcement, Urana was overjoyed and explained on X that she never expected to win such a prestigious award. Nevertheless, she emphasized at the same time that she did not want to rest on her laurels.

As winners, “Gachiakuta” and Urana will receive a certificate and a bronze statue as well as prize money of two million yen (around 11,000 euros).

Prizes were also awarded in other categories: “You Don’t Recognize Me Since We Died” was named best shojo manga, while “Darwin Incident” won the award in the general category.

This year’s jurors included “Fairy Tail” creator Hiro Mashima as well as other well-known mangaka and authors.
