KADOKAWA strengthens anime future with new production center in Tokyo

With “Studio One Base,” KADOKAWA is planning a large anime production center in the heart of Tokyo that will improve working conditions within the industry and further expand its own infrastructure. We summarize.

New Anime Center

As the company recently announced, the new production base is scheduled to open in autumn 2026 in the Sunshine City complex in the Ikebukuro district of Tokyo and will employ around 400 people on a total area of around 4,600 square meters.

In addition to KADOKAWA’s internal anime departments, several of the group’s studios will also be located there, including Studio KADAN, ENGI, Raging Bull, Bellnox Films and Chiptune.

By combining the various production areas, it is hoped to improve collaboration between the studios, make work processes more efficient and promote the exchange of technical know-how.

In addition, “Studio One Base” is intended to offer young animators better training opportunities and give creatives more freedom for the actual production work. The project is part of the new “Creating Creators” strategy. Creating Studios.«, with which KADOKAWA wants to consolidate its production structures in the long term.

The background to this development is, among other things, the strong growth of the anime industry, which at the same time is struggling with a shortage of personnel, increasing workloads and increasingly complex production processes. The aim of the new center is to counteract these challenges in the long term.
