Annecy: Netflix reveals new details about the “One Piece” remake and more

Streaming service Netflix recently unveiled its schedule for the 2026 Annecy Festival, taking place in France from June 21 to 27, confirming new information about several anime projects. We summarize.

New insights at the Annecy Festival

At the Annecy Festival, Netflix is presenting, among other things, new images from the “One Piece” remake, which is currently being created as a modern reinterpretation of Eiichiro Oda’s manga series by WIT Studio and will be released worldwide in February 2027.

The first exclusive scenes from the seven-part first season will be shown on June 24, 2026 as part of the large “Next on Netflix Animation” panel.

“Sparks of Tomorrow” is also one of the festival’s anime highlights. The new series from Kyoto Animation will receive an extensive presentation with first insights in Annecy and will also compete in the official TV competition with the first episode. The title will appear regularly on Netflix from July 5, 2026.

A new film by Yuki Igarashi, “The Ribbon Hero,” will also be presented. The work, inspired by Osamu Tezuka’s “Princess Knight”, celebrates its world premiere at the Annecy Festival. The evening filler relies on a mix of action and fantasy elements and will be released worldwide in August 2026.

In addition to classic festival screenings, Netflix is also planning a special event for “KPop Demon Hunters”. To celebrate the film’s first anniversary, there will be a large open-air sing-along screening at Lake Annecy on June 24, 2026.
