AKIRA creator Katsuhiro Otomo announced today that he has founded a new anime studio called OVAL GEAR. We summarize.
Several titles in progress
The Tokyo-based company’s official website states that the studio was created with the aim of passing on to the next generation the visual storytelling expressions and artistic signature developed by Katsuhiro Otomo over many years.
They also want to create new animated works for a global audience and are therefore already working on several titles. However, concrete details are still pending. As usual, we will keep you updated.
Katsuhiro Otomo started out as a mangaka with works such as “Domu”, “The Mood Is Already That of War” and “AKIRA”. He later devoted himself more to the anime sector, directing parts of “Robot Carnival” and the film adaptation of “AKIRA” and was also involved in titles such as “Memories”, “Steamboy” and “Metropolis”.
