ProSieben MAXX cancels anime program due to Ice Hockey World Cup

Since ProSieben MAXX is once again broadcasting the Ice Hockey World Cup on television for free this year, there will be restrictions on the anime program from the middle of this month. We summarize.

Extensive changes

The first change to the program affects the opening day of the sporting event: on May 15, 2026 “Anime Night” doesn’t start until 11:05 p.m. with the film “Demon Slayer: Mugen Train.” Afterwards, “Attack on Titan” and “Demon Slayer” will be shown. There will be no broadcast of an anime TV premiere at all.

From the May 18 to 21, 2026 (Monday to Thursday) all anime series are omitted, meaning that the regular weekday anime block will only be broadcast on Friday this week. As a great consolation, there will be an extensive anime marathon with 13 films on May 25, 2026 (Whit Monday).

The conclusion will be on May 26, 2026 (Tuesday) the entire afternoon anime program was canceled again. From May 27, 2026, however, all series will run again at their usual broadcast times.
