One UI 9 leak: what do the new Android 17 builds reveal on Galaxy S26?

The first One UI 9 compilations spotted a month ago were still running Android 16. The new firmwares are fully based on Android 17 and bring together several new features already mentioned by rumors, now visible on the Galaxy S26 test.

On the menu: Tap to Share in the Quick Share panel to send files, photos or videos by simple contact between two phones, widgets Bixby to launch voice or text commands with a gesture, a hub Warranty and Care dedicated to warranty and repairs, as well as new accessibility options.

Tap to Share and new One UI 9 tools: what does it change on a daily basis?

Tap to Share transforms local sharing like AirDrop. From the Gallery or the sharing menu, simply stick two compatible smartphones back to back to start sending, provided they are unlocked. On the Galaxy S26the NFC antennas at the top and back make it easier to use.

The new widgets Bixby bring the assistant back to the home screen, with mic or keyboard shortcuts and a large 4×2 widget with an input bar. Coupled with future functions Galaxy AI promised by Samsung, they could serve as a gateway to more natural controls.

The menu Warranty and Care centralizes warranty information, repair options, on-board diagnostics and remote assistance, with the ability to request help by voice. One UI 9 also includes Select to Speak And Text Spotlightwhich read the screen aloud or enlarge text without using the Android Accessibility Suite application.

One UI 9 Android 17: when will Samsung deploy the update on Galaxy Z Fold 8 and S26?

According to the leaks, One UI 9 would make its official debut alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8expected in July 2026. As with previous versions, the most recent models should get the ball rolling, before gradual deployment to the rest of the fleet.

Samsung, however, continues to test different avenues. The latest rumors suggest a more translucent frosted glass interface for the quick panel and notifications, even larger volume sliders, an enhanced screen recorder, and even synchronization of Do Not Disturb mode and the clipboard between compatible Galaxy devices. Nothing is final yet in these development builds.
