Steam is relaunching its major horror festival in April: Lovecraftian Days 2026. For a few days, Valve’s PC platform highlights a selection of games inspired by the world of HP Lovecraft and cosmic horror.
The real good news for French PC players is that 24 of these titles offer a demo that can be played for free for a limited time. Enough to transform the week of April 10 to 16 into a testing marathon, provided you don’t miss the window.
Lovecraftian Days Steam 2026: what is it, and how long does it last?
Lovecraftian Days is an annual festival organized on Steam and supported by the publisher Fulqrum Publishing. It highlights cosmic horror, this subgenre where we face incomprehensible forces rather than gratuitous jumpscares. According to the official page cited by ScreenRant, this is “the fourth annual celebration of the influence of the works of HP Lovecraft and the cosmic horror genre in video games.”
After a first edition in 2023 and a “third annual” in 2025, the 2026 edition is therefore the fourth. For French players, the window to remember is April 10 to 16, 2026, with a technical end on April 17 at 2 a.m. On the program: big discounts on complete games, showcase of upcoming titles and above all 24 completely free demos.
What are the 24 free games to try during Lovecraftian Days on Steam?
The 2026 selection is particularly varied. Some titles focus on pure action rather than fear. MineGeon: Renegades is presented as “a cooperative roguelite bullet hell focused on resource collection” where we descend on a dying planet. How to get these free games on Steam before Lovecraftian Days ends?
No need to search for long: open the Steam client on PC, click on the large Lovecraftian Days 2026 banner or type “Lovecraftian Days Steam” in the store’s search bar. On the event page, filter the results to view demos, then for each game in the list, click “Download Demo.” The installation launches like any game.
The safest thing is to download the demos during the week of the event. Some may remain online after April 16, but there is no guarantee that they will be available or featured. Also remember to add your favorites to your wish list to be notified upon release or during future promotions.
