The Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy is getting closer to its conclusion. After the success of Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Square Enix is now preparing the final chapter of this new version of the famous RPG.
Fans are impatiently awaiting this third opus which will conclude the revisited story of Cloud and his companions. Several recent clues suggest that the game could be officially presented later this year.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 could be revealed soon
During a recent interview with Jason Schreier of Bloomberg, several elements concerning the future of the project were mentioned. According to this information, Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 could be revealed during the year. The developers also hope to be able to offer the game in the relatively near future.
Although no specific date has yet been confirmed, this statement reinforces the idea that the project is actively progressing at Square Enix. The studio seems to want to maintain the pace of development established by the first two games in the trilogy.
New gameplay mechanics planned
The project’s director, Naoki Hamaguchi, also hinted that this third installment would introduce new gameplay mechanics. The team’s goal is to prevent each episode of the trilogy from feeling too similar.
Naoki Hamaguchi explains: “We want to make sure we gain in scale with each new opus, while maintaining this freshness from one version to another.” Even if the developers have not yet detailed these new features, they indicate that the basics of the gameplay have already been reworked for this latest chapter.
A trilogy that transformed Final Fantasy VII
The Final Fantasy VII Remake project represents one of Square Enix’s most ambitious projects. Rather than offering a simple graphical update of the original game, the studio chose to completely reconstruct the story in the form of a trilogy.
Each episode further develops the game universe and deepens the main characters. This creative choice made it possible to revisit certain events from the original story while introducing new scenes and new narrative elements.
The first two games already available on several platforms
Players can already discover the first two chapters of this trilogy. Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth are available on PlayStation, Xbox and PC. According to current information, these games should also come to Nintendo Switch 2 soon.
This cross-platform strategy allows Square Enix to expand its audience and offer more players the opportunity to discover this new version of one of the most famous RPGs in history. The third episode should thus conclude this ambitious trilogy and answer the many questions left open by the first two games.
