GTA 6 continues to keep players waiting, with a hoped-for release around November if no postponement disrupts the schedule. But while waiting for Rockstar Games’ next blockbuster, another project is attracting attention. Neverness to Everness, a free-to-play open world RPG, has just opened its pre-registrations on PlayStation 5. The game will be officially released on April 29, 2026 on PS5. It will also be available on PC and mobile, but at its console launch, only the Sony machine is mentioned.
Neverness to Everness, a free GTA-style RPG in anime version
Developed by Hotta Studio and published by Perfect World Entertainment, Neverness to Everness is an open-world action RPG mixing the natural universe and supernatural phenomena.
The comparison with GTA comes mainly from the freedom offered to players. We drive by car through a large modern city, exploring urban areas dominated by glass skyscrapers, but also countryside filled with cherry blossoms. The game features several playable anime-style characters, each with distinct skills and fighting styles.
Gameplay focused on combat and driving
The combat system emphasizes melee attacks and dodging mechanics. The clashes seem dynamic, with a sustained pace and marked visual effects.
Driving also plays an important role. Players will be able to travel around the map at high speed, particularly in the town of Hethereau, while hunting anomalies scattered throughout the environment.
Beyond the action, the game promises plenty of side options: adopting pets, purchasing clothing, customizing vehicles, and even acquiring properties.
A PS5 console exclusive at launch
As of now, the PlayStation 5 is the only console mentioned for release on April 29, 2026. No Xbox version has been confirmed at launch. Xbox players will therefore have to turn to the mobile or PC version to discover Neverness to Everness when it is released. This positioning reinforces the strategic interest of the title for Sony, which is banking on an ambitious free RPG to enrich its catalog.
A credible alternative while waiting for GTA 6?
Neverness to Everness is unlikely to directly rival the scale of GTA 6. Rockstar Games remains the open world benchmark. However, the mix between action RPG, free driving and anime universe gives the project its own identity. All powered by Unreal Engine 5, guaranteeing detailed visual rendering. Neverness to Everness will be available for free on PS5 from April 29, 2026.
