Nintendo deploys Animal Crossing New Horizons update, major bugs fixed on Switch and Switch 2

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has clearly not said its last word. While update 3.0 had already caused a massive return of players to their islands, Nintendo has just published a new corrective version, 3.0.1. Deployed on February 19, 2026, this patch aims to correct several malfunctions reported after the major expansion. The full notes were not immediately available on the official website, but the community quickly identified the changes.

Released in March 2020, the game remains one of the Nintendo Switch’s biggest hits. Update 3.0 revived interest in the title with new content and improvements. However, several bugs marred this relaunch, pushing Nintendo to intervene quickly with this version 3.0.1.

Animal Crossing New Horizons 3.0.1, the main bugs finally fixed

The update targets concrete issues encountered by players since installing version 3.0. Some slowdowns appeared after leaving the island hotel. Other bugs concerned Resetti: when clearing the island, tidy fences could transform into different customizations or be duplicated, while some cleared objects disappeared. Anomalies also affected the Nook Shop. Timmy and Tommy could stop following the player inside the store. In other cases, objects would pop out of a rock before the shovel even touched it, disrupting the logic of the gameplay.

Nintendo specifies that “Other adjustments and fixes have been made to improve the gaming experience”. This broad wording confirms that additional optimizations have been integrated without being detailed publicly. For players who have been on the same island for six years, these malfunctions could have visible consequences on their progress and their layout. The rapid correction of these bugs was therefore expected.

Specific fixes for Nintendo Switch 2

Version 3.0.1 is not limited to general fixes. Nintendo also made adjustments for players using the Nintendo Switch 2. One of the issues identified was the display of the sky on the island.

The patch thus includes the “Fixed an issue where clouds near the horizon could appear misaligned outside on the island, causing certain parts of the sky to display abnormally”. This visual defect could alter immersion, especially in a game where the atmosphere and graphic details occupy a central place.

Another notable change: “Adjusted the intensity of controller vibration to match the level when playing on Nintendo Switch.” This return to a more moderate vibration is not unanimous. Some players appreciated the increased intensity, considered more immersive.

An update more technical than spectacular

Unlike 3.0, which introduced a significant amount of content and massively relaunched the game’s activity, version 3.0.1 takes a more discreet approach. No major additions, no new events, but targeted stabilization work. The longevity of Animal Crossing: New Horizons explains this vigilance. With an active community since 2020, each update can impact hundreds of hours of building, customization, and online interactions. If some were still hoping for an improvement in loading times on Switch 2, this patch focuses above all on the reliability of the game and the technical consistency of the experience.

Should you restart your island after update 3.0.1?

For players who have encountered bugs since update 3.0, this version 3.0.1 brings concrete fixes. Issues related to the hotel, duplicate items, or unusual behavior of non-player characters are now supported. The update is available for download now. It does not modify the content of the game but consolidates the recently added bases. After six years of operation, Nintendo continues to ensure technical monitoring of its flagship life simulator.
