Forget Resident Evil 9 for a moment. Resident Evil Requiem is barely getting ready to be released when the first information regarding the next opus is already circulating. A leak relayed by well-known insider Dusk Golem suggests that Resident Evil 10 is aiming for a 2029 release.
The information comes as Resident Evil Requiem will be available on February 27, 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S. But according to several rumors, Capcom already has a well-established schedule for the following years.
Resident Evil 10 would target 2029 according to Dusk Golem
Dusk Golem, often well informed about the license, affirms that Resident Evil 10 is currently aiming for a release date in 2029. He specifies, however, that the project could be pushed back to 2030, or even 2031 at worst. In a post in response to a question about Resident Evil Requiem DLC, he explains: “I’ve heard pretty reliably that Resident Evil Requiem has DLC that is further along in development. »
He also adds: “The development of RE9 has been delayed several times. Apocalypse aimed for 2023, then Requiem aimed for 2025, before being pushed back to 2026. As a result, the gap between RE9 and RE10 (although it probably won’t be called that) is a little shorter than usual. » According to him, the next main opus would therefore already be in the works, with an advanced development cycle, even if the name “Resident Evil 10” might not be kept.
Cascading delays that shorten the gap
The calendar mentioned by the insider shows that Resident Evil Requiem would have experienced several internal postponements. Initially planned under the name Apocalypse for 2023, the game would then have targeted 2025 before being set at 2026. These shifts would have mechanically reduced the gap between the two major opuses. If Resident Evil 10 does indeed release in 2029, that would represent a shorter wait than previous transitions in the series. Dusk Golem also claims to know elements related to the synopsis and the director of the project, but refuses to share them at the moment, believing that the game is still “too distant and subject to change”.
Remakes of Resident Evil 0 and Code Veronica in preparation?
At the same time, other rumors point to remakes of Resident Evil 0 and Code Veronica. Resident Evil 0, a prequel to the series, follows Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen to an abandoned compound linked to Umbrella. Code Veronica, meanwhile, takes place between Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 and features Chris and Claire Redfield. If these projects are confirmed, Capcom could continue annual releases until 2029. The series has already experienced a sustained pace between 2019 and 2021 with Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 3 Remake and Resident Evil Village.
Rumors to be taken with caution
Despite Dusk Golem’s reputation, these reports remain rumors. The insider has been right in the past, but some of his revelations have also turned out to be inaccurate. For the moment, Capcom has confirmed neither Resident Evil 10 nor the mentioned remakes. The only certainty concerns Resident Evil Requiem, expected on February 27, 2026. If the supposed schedule is verified, fans of the license may well not lack new features in the coming years.
