In a detailed X article, Ghost Mikawa spoke about his work “Days with My Stepsister” and gave a poor forecast for a second season of the anime adaptation. We summarize below.
No second season planned
The author stated that he was extremely satisfied with the sales figures of his light novel series as the title was very popular. According to his current planning, “Days with My Stepsister” should end after just over 20 volumes. However, volume 16 will be released next in Japanese stores.
Although the original is enjoying great success, this by no means guarantees that the anime will continue with a second season. Unfortunately, even the great response to the first season only plays a minor role.
According to his current information, there are no plans for further episodes – which he attributes primarily to the following five reasons:
- The anime was not a work planned with a second season in mind
- So far it has not been possible to bring the same team together
- It is not expected that the work will be able to maintain its popularity until the same team collaborates again
- The anime wasn’t successful enough to overcome all of these hurdles
- TV anime budgets are increasing
Mikawa is therefore considering taking matters into her own hands to secure funding for a second season. Although he could not influence an anime studio’s personnel or production decisions, he explained that he could at least prove that his work deserved a sequel. As soon as there is news, you will find out here from us.
The twelve-part anime adaptation of “Days With My Stepsister” was produced by Studio DEEN and first aired on Japanese television from July to September 2024. Crunchyroll offers all episodes in their original language with subtitles on demand.
