Resident Evil Requiem: Leon returns to Raccoon City in a chilling new trailer

Capcom has struck again with a chilling announcement. During the State of Play on February 12, the Japanese publisher unveiled a new Resident Evil Requiem trailerthe next opus of the cult saga. And surprise: the game marks the return of Leon S. Kennedy to Raccoon City, 28 years after the events that changed his life.

Scheduled to release on February 27, 2026 on PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch And Xbox Series, Resident Evil Requiem promises a return to basics, in a city ravaged by chaos, memories and contamination.

Leon returns to where it all began

In this new trailer, Leo surveys the ruins of a Raccoon City ghostly. The streets are deserted, dark, almost unreal. He ends up pushing the doors of the famous police stationnow in ruins, where fans will recognize the remains of the iconic hall.

The trailer, loaded with dramatic tension, evokes the curse left by UmbrellaTHE six survivors deceased, and familiar voices haunt the images. One of them seems to be that of Sherry Birkinwhich we briefly see from behind. Could she be infected, just like Leon? The mystery remains.

A back-to-basics atmosphere

Capcom seems to want to reconnect with the visceral horror of the first parts. The colors are desaturated, the staging supports Leon’s solitude, and the dialogue suggests a shared mutation between two former Raccoon City survivors.

The game promises to be more psychological, less pure action oriented, with an assumed narrative focus. A way of coming full circle for early fans, without denying the modern heritage of recent remakes.

A highly anticipated release for this Resident Evil 9

Resident Evil Requiemalso called Resident Evil 9 in official documents, will be released in less than two weeks. It is the direct sequel to Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 4 Remake, but with a completely new narrative construction.

Leon, who had not appeared as the main protagonist for several years, returns to the forefront here. The central question: why return to Raccoon City? And above all, what is still alive there… or contaminated?
