Steam treats with two free RPGs between retro nightmare and brutal arena

If the wait for a remake of Bloodborne you despair, Tearscape could give you hope. This 2D RPG, which has just arrived on Steam as a free demo, immerses players in a sinister atmosphere, between Victorian nightmare and cosmic horrors. Its gameplay, for its part, borrows from the classics of The Legend of Zelda, with its dungeons, its puzzles and its well-hidden secrets.

Behind its pixel art graphics lies an interconnected, demanding world filled with grotesque monsters to face with precision. “Today, we recommend the free Tearscape demo on Steam, directly inspired by Bloodborne, but which mixes cosmic horrors with Legend of Zelda RPG mechanics.” It’s free, quick to install, and sturdy enough to fill a void in the hearts of Soulslike fans.

Eldeguard: Elden Ring and Highguard merge in PvPvE chaos

Stylistically the opposite, Eldeguard plays the raw power card. Formerly known as Legacy: Steel and Sorcerythis multiplayer action RPG has been completely rebranded to relaunch its image. And this does not go unnoticed: the game, which mixes extraction shooter, bosses to eliminate and PvP confrontations, evokes both Elden Ring And Highguardin mini-MMO version.

The principle is simple: eliminate one of the 32 colossal bosses on the map, while escaping other players. The intensity is real, but technical stability remains a weak point. A Steam user explains: “Potential alone cannot sell a game, and the devs need to put in some serious work to fix these glaring issues.” Another telling comment: “Re-name/Re-Launch of Legacy Steel and Sorcery, all the same issues.”

Two original proposals, but not without flaws

If Tearscape is unanimous in its retro-gothic genre, Eldeguard divides. The first seduces those nostalgic for Zelda and fans of Bloodbornewhile the second is aimed at fans of nervous arena challenges. One is explored slowly, the other is played out urgently. Both games are available for free now on Steamwhich allows everyone to form their own opinion. Warning: Eldeguard is in early access and requires correct configuration to run properly.

Why these free RPGs deserve your attention in February

Indie games continue to surprise, and Steam is the ideal playground for these experiments. Whether you’re craving Soulslike, dark fantasy, or old-school mechanics, these two titles prove that you can still be surprised, even without opening your wallet. And who knows?
