New details about the upcoming three-part film series were announced today on the official “Made in Abyss” X account. There is a teaser below.
Premiere in fall 2026
The first new sequel film is entitled “Made in Abyss: Awakening Mystery” (Japanese: “Made in Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi”) and is expected to premiere in Japanese cinemas in autumn 2026. A specific date is still open.
The studio Kinema Citrus is responsible for the production of the evening filler, with Masayuki Kojima (“Rising of The Shield Hero”) directing, Hideyuki Kurata (“Goblin Slayer”) writing the script and Kevin Penkin contributing the music.
»Made in Abyss currently consists of two seasons, two compilation films and a sequel film. The publisher LEONINE Anime released both the series and the films with German and Japanese voiceovers on Blu-ray.
