Final Fantasy VII Rebirth surprises with excellent news for Switch 22 players

We had to wait until the Nintendo Partner Direct at the beginning of February to get the confirmation that everyone was waiting for. After persistent rumors, it is now official: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be available on Nintendo Switch 2 from June 3. “Confirming our information, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be released on June 3.”

The announcement was made jointly by Nintendo and Square Enix during the live broadcast, ending weeks of speculation. It will be a port of the famous RPG already praised on PS5 and PC, and which raises as many expectations as questions among players of the hybrid console.

A port faithful to the PS5 version and reassuring performance

According to the information presented during the Direct, this Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will integrate all of the main features seen on other platforms. The game promises its dynamic combat and its vast universe punctuated by numerous mini-games. The famous Juno parade, among other secondary activities, will be present, as will all of the explorable areas known in the remake trilogy.

The first images suggest correct performance, in line with those observed on the Switch version of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. The latter had already managed to convince, proving that the Switch 2 could accommodate such ambitious titles without too many technical compromises.

A busy summer for Nintendo and Square Enix

The release schedule for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on Switch 2 falls during the summer period, a strategy that could boost sales of the console. Nintendo clearly intends to capitalize on this launch to boost a Switch 2 whose end-of-year figures fell short of expectations in the West.

This release coincides with other strong announcements, such as a sequel to Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo or the ports of Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. If these are intriguing, the Switch 2 could nevertheless show its limits for this type of very demanding titles.

Huge expectations from fans of the saga

With an average score of 92/100 on OpenCritic and a 97% recommendation from critics, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has already convinced on other media. The challenge was therefore significant for Square Enix: to offer a faithful portable version, without sacrificing the quality of the gameplay or the graphic universe.

Fans will finally be able to reunite with Cloud, Yuffie and the whole team in this second part of the Remake trilogy, in a nomadic version that focuses on accessibility without compromising on the experience. A daring bet that could well become a milestone in the history of portages.
