The studio is rushing to find solutions
By only offering 3vs3 clashes upon release, Highguard could have disappointed, especially with such large maps in which so few participants could come together. The studio therefore decided to launch an emergency 5vs5 mode when seeing the game’s attendance figures drop at high speed. But this mode was only supposed to be temporary at first.
However, given the success of the latter, Wildlight Entertainment indicates that the 5vs5 mode will finally remain, and becomes permanent. He explains that the distribution of the public between the main mode and this new mode is quite satisfactory, which is why he intends to keep it in play.
And truth be told, Highguard really needs this to hope to get back on track. Since last week, the curiosity effect of the game has somewhat disappeared and the numbers are not grandiose. The title struggles to maintain a maximum peak of 10,000 simultaneous connections on Steam, which seems to be quite low for a game that was supposed to create an event (and let’s not even dare a comparison with Apex Legendsprevious game of many people within the studio). Who knows if Highguard is doing better on consoles, but for the moment, free-to-play has a lot to do to hope to maintain itself over time.
Highguard is available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series. To find out more about the game, do not hesitate to consult our test.
