Passed largely under the radar upon its release in 2023, Scars Above returns to the spotlight with an 80% discount on the PlayStation Store, valid until February 5, 2026. The game is offered to $5.99 instead of $29.99, in PS4/PS5 cross-purchase. No special edition or DLC is required: it’s the complete experience that is sold off.
Developed by the studio Mad Head GamesScars Above may not have benefited from a massive marketing campaign, but it was able to attract some players who love narrative adventure and SF universes.
A mix of shooting and space mystery
Scars Above is a game third-person single-player action-adventureimmersed in a disturbing science fiction universe. The player embodies Dr Kate Warda scientist embarked on a high-risk space mission with her SCAR team, sent to investigate an extraterrestrial entity called the Metahedron.
The plot quickly takes a dramatic turn: “Things don’t go as planned, and the Metahedron (the alien structure) whisks the team through space to a mysterious extrasolar planet.” The player will then have to explore a hostile environment, solve puzzles and face strange creatures to find his teammates and understand what happened. “Determined to survive, you set out to find your crew and try to unravel the mystery of what happened.”
Why this offer deserves your attention
Priced at less than $6, Scars Above represents an interesting alternative to big blockbusters. Its lifespan is reasonable, its gameplay accessible, and its mysterious atmosphere well constructed. This is not an AAA, but a “AA” game ambitious, halfway between Returnal and Mass Effect, with a more modest budget.
Compatible with PS4 and PS5, it offers a smooth experience on both consoles. The members of the PlayStation Plus Premium can even play it streaming via the cloudwithout downloading.
A very limited shooting window
Discounted sci-fi single-player games are rare, especially at such a discount. This offer ends February 5, 2026and the game is unlikely to see such a discount again for a long time. If you’re a fan of space stories, exploration, and immersive gameplay, now is probably the perfect time to give it a try without spending too much.
