Black Ops 7: a total overhaul of ranked mode is coming next week, the rules are changing

During the CDL Major I grand finale in Dallas, Treyarch studio lifted the veil on a major update coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Starting next week, season 2 will bring a complete overhaul ranked modeincorporating a new progression system that is more demanding and more rewarding.

On the agenda: adjustment of placement matchesintroduction to new rewardsand overhaul of the ranking system to reward actual performance. According to Treyarch, “the higher your rank, the more difficult the task will be.” An announcement that risks disrupting the habits of competitive players.

A more realistic ranking from the first games

First novelty: the attribution of initial rank. From now on, three victories will be enough to receive a starting ranking, which will no longer systematically start with the lowest levels. The system will take your performance into account from the first placement match.

But this is only the beginning. The higher you go in the divisions, the more severe the system becomes. Integrate the famous Top 250“the most prestigious prize list in ranked mode”, will require much more than a good ratio. At this level, the pressure will be constant: “the drop in your SR will be more brutal than at lower levels”.

Restrictions to preserve competitive balance

Another major new feature: rank players Scarlet or higher will no longer be able to form groups of more than two. This measure aims to limit matchmaking abuse and to strengthen the competitiveness of high-level matches.

Treyarch will also introduce a new system of “Ranked Match Series”which will come into effect at the end of the season. It will allow players to directly confront their close ranking rivals, with the key being exclusive rewards and, in the developer’s words, “ultimate glory.”

A season 2 marked by intensity

This new version of ranked mode intends reward meritbut also test consistency of the most ambitious players. Finishing in the front rows will no longer be enough: you will have to hold your position until the end.

These developments mark a turning point in Treyarch’s competitive philosophy, which wants bringing the player experience closer to the e-sports model. For Call of Duty enthusiasts looking for a pure challenge, season 2 promises to be an unmissable event.
