PS5: Sony is preparing a new feature that will delight everyone

It’s not a simple bug or a vague rumor, but an official PlayStation Store page that ignited the powder. While the program PlayStation Stars is coming to an end, Sony already seems to be starting the shift towards a new rewards system for his console PS5. The PS Stars service no longer allows you to earn points since July 2025 and will be shut down permanently November 2, 2026.

On Reddit, user streetxrat94 spotted an intriguing PlayStation Store page clearly mentioning a new system called “wallet credit.” This mention comes with PlayStation’s famous holy symbols and an option to add it to one’s wishlist, although no release date has been set yet. The status is simply indicated as “announced”.

A system based on money, not digital objects?

The concept seems to move away from digital collectibles offered by PS Stars, which were only visible on the mobile application and not on consoles, which had frustrated many players. Still, this new system could capitalize on one of the most popular aspects of PS Stars: wallet credits. As GameRant points out, “Sony has stated that it would ‘evolve’ its reward system and replace PS Stars with something”.

Behind this transition, some users are hoping for a simpler and more rewarding system, as one user on Reddit explains: “While flawed (digital collectibles not being viewable on PS5 consoles and only through the mobile app was a big mistake), many appreciated PS Stars and would like to see a replacement.”

PS5 wallet credits: towards a cashback system?

Speculation is rife, but several avenues are emerging around this new functionality. According to the most probable hypotheses:

  • Players could receive wallet credits after a certain amount spent, cashback style.
  • They could also slowly accumulate it by unlocking PlayStation trophiesmaking their hunting more attractive.
  • Sony could offer missions, surveys or special objectives to earn these credits.
  • An integration with PlayStation tournaments is also considered.

GameRant directly mentions this possibility: “Players could slowly accumulate wallet funds by earning PlayStation Trophies”.

A feverish wait before the official announcement

For the moment, no formal communication from Sony. The mention “wallet credit” remains discreet, and the appearance of this page could only be a test or a controlled leak. But fans of the Japanese brand see it as a strong sign that the end of PS Stars will not mark the end of the awards, but rather their overhaul. The probable launch date of this new system could coincide with the official end of PS Stars, in November 2026or even the arrival of the highly anticipated PS5 Pro.

Until then, players must make do with their last PS Stars points to exchange, and carefully monitor the manufacturer’s announcements.
