The start of the year is often synonymous with good resolutions, but also good deals for PS4 and PS5 players. As part of its New Year sales, Sony is currently offering numerous promotions on its PlayStation Store. And among them, a somewhat forgotten pearl resurfaces: Far Cry Primal.
The Ubisoft title benefits from a spectacular 75% reduction. Its price therefore drops from $29.99 to only $7.49, or approximately €7. A godsend for those who missed it when it was released in 2016. But be careful: this offer is only valid until February 5, 2026 at 2:59 a.m. (Eastern Time).
A daring spin-off set in the heart of the Stone Age
With Far Cry PrimalUbisoft had surprised everyone. Gone are the assault rifles and helicopters, make way for rudimentary bows, flint spears and natural swords: saber-toothed tigers.
The story puts you in the shoes of Takkar, an isolated hunter, the last survivor of his clan. To survive, he will have to learn to tame ferocious beasts, make his own weapons and face hostile tribes. “Welcome to the Stone Age, a time of extreme danger and endless adventure, where woolly mammoths and saber-toothed tigers rule the Earth and humanity sits at the bottom of the food chain.”
Overall positive critical reception
When it was released on PS4 in 2016, Far Cry Primal had received a rather favorable reception. The game has an average of 76 out of 100 on Metacritic, calculated from 91 reviews. He stood out for his audacity in reinventing the classic mechanics of the license in a new setting.
“Far Cry Primal is a shining example of how a game series should evolve, with meaningful and important changes to the status quo, while still retaining the characteristics of the base game.”
“It’s still a lot of fun to ride a saber-toothed tiger and throw spears at primitive cannibals just because you can.”
Should we jump on this PS Store promo?
At less than €8, Far Cry Primal presents itself as an excellent opportunity for fans of open worlds and atypical universes. The game offers an exotic survival experience, without modern weapons, but with a wild bestiary, a sophisticated soundscape and well-thought-out crafting mechanics.
