And the year is not over yet
So yes, Monster Hunter Wilds could have taken Capcom to new heights. But don’t think that the game’s performance is low, and that the publisher’s balance sheet is not in the green because of that. Turnover is up 29.8% compared to last year at Capcom, and this translates into much higher game sales than last year.
We are talking here about 34.64 million games sold over this period, i.e. +13.5%and Capcom points out that Street Fighter 6 contributed a lot to this thanks to the release of its Switch 2 version, while Devil May Cry V has been the publisher’s surprise champion over the last nine months. The game has now reached 11 million sales (the same for Monster Hunter Wilds), a result linked to a fairly low purchase price and a Netflix series which attracted quite a few people, regardless of what one may think of its quality.
The publisher’s back catalog is still very promising, especially for the saga resident Evil. The fourth episode and Village sold particularly well here. Capcom even drops a word on Resident Evil Survival Unitwhich has been downloaded more than 3 million times. And with a Resident Evil Requiem which arrives just before the end of the fiscal year, suffice to say that Capcom will be on top of the world for the next few weeks.
