Expeditions: A MudRunner Game has quietly joined the ranks of games offered this month. And even if its name does not have the impact of Resident Evil or Like a Dragon, its proposal is radically different. No spectacular shootouts or RPGs here, but a slow, strategic, and surprisingly relaxing adventure.
An expedition simulator like no other
Developed as an evolved spin-off of MudRunner, Expeditions puts you in control of off-road vehicles in wild, sometimes extreme areas. The goal? Carry out scientific missions, map unknown areas, and manage each move down to the millimeter. It’s not a game of speed, but of intelligence and anticipation.
Its slow pace may confuse some players, but for others, that’s precisely what makes it so tasty. And its lifespan is impressive. “Expeditions: A MudRunner Game is a game with a long title. According to HowLongToBeat, it is possible to complete it in approximately 71 hours, and even in 50 hours if you focus only on the main objectives. However, for perfectionist players who want to experience everything, the game offers 101 hours of content.”

When we add up the hours promised by January’s PS Plus games, Expeditions alone represents a third of the total. Next to it, behemoths like Resident Evil Village (around 10 to 12 hours) or Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth (50 to 60 hours) seem more accessible, but not necessarily richer for lovers of long sessions.
This type of simulator has its fans. It is played in small steps or in long immersions, sometimes with the satisfaction of succeeding in a simple crossing or a complex delivery after 45 minutes of reflection.
