Animal Crossing New Horizons: Nintendo removes an island deemed “adult” in the midst of relaunching the game

Animal Crossing: New Horizonsthe famous soft simulation game from Nintendo, is at the heart of an unexpected event. Known for its soothing settings, its adorable inhabitants and its good-natured atmosphere, the franchise saw the emergence of a much less candid creation than usual: a personalized island with content deemed reserved for adults, recently deleted by Nintendo.

According to GameRantthis controversial island was designed since the game’s launch, in 2020, by a Japanese player. Its content? A concentrate of ribald humor mixing strip clubs, love hotels and statues of naked men. Unusual creations that have not escaped Nintendo’s filters… after five years of existence.

An update that revives the popularity of the game

Nintendo’s decision comes at a time when Animal Crossing: New Horizons is experiencing renewed interest. Thanks to update 3.0 and its port to Nintendo Switch 2, the game is enjoying a new lease of life with millions of players.

The update, available for $4.99 or free depending on the console, brings comfort improvements, new craftable items, a new resort hotel and general optimization. Enough to encourage many players to rediscover their islands… or to come across corners that are much more daring than expected.

An island that blurs the codes of family play

The forbidden creation prompts one to question the limits of customization in a game meant to remain family-friendly. Thanks to the design tools made available to players, it is in fact possible to divert the game’s mechanics to build unexpected, sometimes provocative, environments.

The author of the island, known on YouTube via Koala’s Game Showhad created this universe with a deliberately humorous tone, close to the absurd spirit of a game like Yakuza. But the use of explicit symbols ended up triggering moderation from Nintendo, always keen to preserve a general public image for its licenses.

Animal Crossing remains a field of expression… within certain limits

The affair makes you smile, but reminds us that even in a colorful and peaceful universe, players can push creativity to the extreme. The customization toolAnimal Crossing remains one of the most powerful ever seen in a Nintendo game. However, the freedom offered stops where the rules of the platform require it. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is still available on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. Its 3.0 update strengthens its appeal… apart from the overly suggestive islands.
