The new update of Battlefield 6scheduled for January 20, 2026, brings a series of crucial adjustments awaited by the community for months. Between vehicle balancing, animation adjustments, and partial overhaul of the HUD, DICE intends to breathe new life into its flagship FPS.
Season 1 of Battlefield 6 was marked by a mixed reception. The introduction of the mode RedSechome version of the Battle Royale, did not convince all players, in particular because of recurring bugs and a lack of strong identity. This new update, identified as 1.1.3.5is part of a series of fixes aimed at restoring confidence. “This update focuses on a smaller set of targeted improvements, intended to improve the fluidity and overall consistency of gameplay,” specify the developers in the official notes.
An expected overhaul of melee attacks
This is undoubtedly one of the most acclaimed aspects of this patch: stabbing attacks have been thoroughly overhauled. The attack speed of knives has been increased, while buffering behaviors (chains of actions) are now more responsive. The sprint animation will now only be interrupted until contact with the enemy, not for the duration of the attack. “We’ve improved responsiveness, consistency, and sprinting behavior for melee attacks, including knives and maces,” confirms DICE. Additionally, vehicle explosions triggered by kills on prone soldiers have been fixed, preventing absurd mid-game deaths.
Many interface and comfort adjustments
The HUD and menus Battlefield 6 have been the subject of constant criticism since release. Considered difficult to read and inspired by streaming service interfaces, they have been reworked for greater clarity. Among the new features, players can now customize crosshair color in their viewfinders. The shield indicator is also more visible, and soldier animations have been improved in the menus.
A rebalancing of vehicles and weapons finally deployed
Update 1.1.3.5 also affects global balancing, particularly air vehicles. Jet cannon damage has been reduced by 40%, requiring greater precision and strategy in flight. On the weapons side, several bugs related to aiming, loading points and ballistics have been corrected. Some errors such as accuracy bonuses incorrectly displayed on bipods are now resolved. The game thus gains consistency between the display of statistics and the reality of the gameplay.
A new direction for the franchise?
In parallel with these adjustments, EA announced that it had recruited Julian Gerightyformer head of The Divisionto strengthen the DICE teams. Although it is still too early to see its influence, it could mark a turning point in the long-term strategy of Battlefield 6. Update 1.1.3.5 will be available on January 20. This may be an opportunity for EA to restore its image and win back an increasingly demanding player base.
